Cissbury Ring, Sussex
Cissbury Ring is an Iron Age hillfort near Worthing, Sussex. Cissbury Ring is the largest hillfort in Sussex and one of the largest in Europe, covering some 60 acres. The fortifications were built around the beginning of the Middle Iron Age. The site of the fort contains a Neolithic mine. One of the earliest flint mines in Britain, the mine was used for around 300 years. The site is in the care of the National Trust. It is within the council area of Worthing (West Sussex).
