Churn Knob, Berkshire
Churn Knob is a Bronze Age bell barrow situated on the north facing crest of Churn Hill near Blewbury, Berkshire. It forms part of a large dispersed round barrow cemetery. The bell barrow mound survives as a visible stone and earth mound measuring 75ft in diameter and standing up to 5ft high. Churn Knob is traditionally believed to have been the site of a sermon by St Birinus, first Bishop of Dorchester-on-Thames, in the 7th century and the focus of an annual pilgramage and service. It is within the council area of Vale of White Horse (Oxfordshire).
