Chorley, Lancashire
Chorley is a market town in Lancashire. Chorley first appears in historical records in the mid thirteenth century. Centuries later, it became a major centre of the cotton industry, many former mill buildings remaining. Chorley is also known as the birthplace of the Chorley cake. Astley Hall is a country house dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. The town is within the council area of Chorley (Lancashire).
