Chepstow Castle (Castell Cas-gwent) is a castle located above the River Wye at Chepstow, Monmouthshire. It is the oldest surviving post-Roman stone fortification in Britain, construction having begun in 1067 under the instruction of the Norman Lord William FitzOsbern. It was the southernmost of a chain of castles built in the Welsh Marches. It is in the care of Cadw. It is within the council area of Monmouthshire.
