Cheadle, Cheshire

Cheadle is a suburban village in Cheshire. The village is first recorded in the Domesday Book under the name "Cedde". St Mary's Church dates from the early 16th century, a church having been on the site since at least 1200. Moseley Old Hall is an early Stuart mansion dating from 1666. Abney Hall dates from 1847 and was used as Cheadle town hall from 1959 until 1974. The village is within the council area of Stockport.
