Chadderton, Lancashire
Chadderton is a town in Lancashire. It is located on the River Irk and Rochdale Canal, in the foothills of the Pennines, a mile west of Oldham. A late-19th century boom transformed Chadderton from a rural township into a large mill town. For local government purposes, it formed the basis of Chadderton urban district from 1894-1974. Many former mill buildings remain, used as warehouses or distribution centres. Chadderton Town Hall (1913) is in the Edwardian Baroque style. The town is within the council area of Oldham.
