Caus Castle, Shropshire

Caus Castle is the ruin of a hillfort and mediæval castle near to Westbury, Shropshire. The early outer earthworks are probably an Iron Age hillfort, while the later motte-and-bailey is of Norman construction. It is situated up on the eastern foothills of the Long Mountain guarding the route from Shrewsbury to Montgomery. It is within the council area of Shropshire.
