Cattedown, Devon
Cattedown is an urban area in Plymouth, Devon. It is located beside the estuary of the River Plym, just short of the river's mouth. The waterfront is largely a docks and industrial area. Worth's Cattedown Bone Caves were discovered by quarry workers in 1886 and found to contain numerous bones of prehistoric animals as well as those of 15 palaeolithic hominins ("Cattedown Man"). Cattedown is within the council area of Plymouth.
