Castlenau, Surrey

Castlenau is a former hamlet that is now an urban area in the north of Barnes, Surrey. The area was developed after the opening of Hammersmith Bridge in 1827. Castelnau is noted for 20 pairs of exceptional classical villas, built in 1842 by Major Charles Boileau. The Castelnau Estate is a cottage estate built in 1926. It is within the council area of Richmond upon Thames.
