Castle Rings, Wiltshire
Castle Rings is a large prehistoric univallate hillfort, situated on Tittle Path Hill near Wincombe, Wiltshire. The hillfort survives as an oval enclosure measuring approximately 1,050ft long by 660ft wide internally and defined by a rampart bank standing up to 26ft wide and 6ft high internally, a ditch of 50ft wide and from 7ft up to 20ft deep. The hillfort covers approximately 17 acres in total. To the north-west is a length of cross ridge dyke which curves slightly and mimics the line of the hillfort. The site is within the council area of Wiltshire.
