Castle Hills, Huntingdonshire

Castle Hills (aka Huntingdon Castle) is a Norman motte-and-bailey castle in Huntingdon, Huntingdonshire. It was built for William the Conqueror in 1068. It was dismantled by Henry II during the Revolt of 1173–1174. Parts of the castle did remain, including the chapel. The castle was refortified during the Civil War and later served as the county gaol. Nothing now remains of the castle apart from its earthworks. It is within the council area of Huntingdonshire (Cambridgeshire).
