Castle Hill, Devon

Castle Hill is a Norman motte castle near Widworthy, Devon. It was sculptured from the natural hillside in a commanding position overlooking the ancient settlements of Widworthy and Wilmington. It has been suggested that Castle Hill may date from the second major period of motte construction, during the civil wars of King Stephen's reign. It is within the council area of East Devon (Devon).
