Castle Hill, Yorkshire
Castle Hill is a late Bronze Age or early Iron Age hillfort near Hall Bower in Yorkshire, in the West Riding. The hillfort went through several periods of expansion but had been abandoned by the fifth century BC. The site does not appear to have been occupied again until the early 12th century AD when the earthworks were modified to create a motte-and-bailey castle. The castle was abandoned during the 13th century and the settlement adjacent to it by the 15th century. It is within the council area of Kirklees.
