Castle Hill, Yorkshire

Castle Hill is a Norman motte-and-bailey castle, situated on the hill of the same name, overlooking Bardsey, Yorkshire, in the West Riding. The motte is of an unusual form, consisting of two roughly rectangular platforms on an east-west alignment joined by a central causeway. The motte is situated at the centre of a flat oval bailey. The castle was possibly built by Adam de Bruce, an important baron, who was granted the manor of Bardsey shortly after 1175. It is within the council area of Leeds.
Historic England Scheduled Monument 1012774.
