Castle Haugh, Yorkshire
Castle Haugh (aka Cromwell's Basin) is a mediæval ringwork castle near Newsholme, Yorkshire, in the West Riding. The monument comprises a circular mound about 30ft high artificially raised above the external ground level. It is surrounded for much of its circumference by a dry ditch 6ft deep. An earthen breastwork runs around the summit of the mound on all sides except the west. The monument is within the council area of Ribble Valley (Lancashire).
