Castle Folds, Westmorland
Castle Folds are the ruins of a Romano-British stone walled settlement in Westmorland. It is located on top of a reasonably flat topped knoll within an area of deeply fissured limestone pavement. The walls of the enclosure are built of limestone rubble with a few larger stones as well and within the enclosure there are hut circles. In mediæval times it was used as a shieling (a temporary summer shelter). It is within the council area of Westmorland and Furness.
