Castle Bank, Kent

Castle Bank is a moot mound near Knox Bridge, Kent. Moots were open-air meeting places set aside for use by courts and other bodies who were responsible for the administration and organisation of the countryside in Anglo-Saxon and mediæval England. The site was formerly interpreted as the site of a Norman motte castle. It is within the council area of Maidstone (Kent).
