Carrowdore, Down

Carrowdore is a village, lying on the Ards Peninsula in County Down. It is within the townland of Ballyrawer, in the civil parish of Donaghadee. Carrowdore Presbyterian Church was founded in 1828. Christ Church (C of I), which dates from 1843, is the last resting place of poet Louis MacNeice. Carrowdore Castle was built in rustic gothic style from 1818-20 by Nicholas de Lacherois-Crommelin. Parkland surrounds the house. The village is within the council area of Ards and North Down.
