Carnoustie, Angus

Carnoustie is a town in Angus, situated at the mouth of the Barry Burn on the North Sea coast. The town was founded in the late 18th century, and grew rapidly throughout the 19th century due to the expansion of the local textile industry. Its seaside location made Carnoustie a popular tourist resort from the early Victorian era. It is best known though for its associations with golf. The town is within the council area of Angus.
