MenuCarnlough, Antrim
Carnlough is a village, lying on Carnlough Bay on the east coast of County Antrim. It is within the townlands of Carnlough South, Carnlough South, Harphall, Drumourne, Gartford and Drumnacole, in the civil parishes of Ardclinis and Tickmacrevan. The village's origins lie in the late 1700s, when Phillip Gibbons built the first stone harbour, primarily to export limestone from the local quarries. Later estate owner, Frances Anne Vane Tempest (Marchioness of Londonderry) built a new, larger harbour in 1853-1854. The Town Hall dates from 1856. In the 20th century, the village expanded southwards, around the bay. The village is within the council area of Mid and East Antrim.
