Canons Ashby House, Northamptonshire

Canons Ashby House (aka Canons Ashby Hall) is an Elizabethan manor house at Canons Ashby, Northamptonshire. The house is named from the former Canons Ashby Priory on the lands of which is was built following the Dissolution. The interior is noted for its Elizabethan wall paintings and its Jacobean plasterwork. The house sits in the midst of a formal garden with herbaceous borders, an orchard, terraces, walls and gate piers from around 1710. The house is in the care of the National Trust, as is the adjacent the former priory church of St Mary. It is within the council area of West Northamptonshire.
