Camp Green, Derbyshire

Camp Green is a mediæval ringwork castle near Hathersage, Derbyshire. Documentary evidence concerning the ringwork is slight. It comprises a roughly circular area with a diameter of 190ft, enclosed on the north and east sides by a substantial earth rampart with a maximum internal height of about 6ft and a 17ft wide outer ditch. On its south side, the ringwork is defined by a steep scarp which drops into the ditch below. The monument is within the council area of Derbyshire Dales (Derbyshire).
