Calke Abbey, Derbyshire
Calke Abbey is an early 18th-century Baroque mansion near Ticknall, Derbyshire. The site was an Augustinian priory from the 12th century until the Dissolution. It is in the care of the National Trust, which has preserved it as an example of an English country house in decline. The interior houses a varied collection of stuffed birds, mammals, fossils, and other natural history oddments gathered by a succession of eccentric owners. It is within the council area of South Derbyshire (Derbyshire).
