California is an urban locality on the outskirts of Dunstable, lying on Whipsnade Road on the Bedfordshire / Hertfordshire border. The California Beer House lay on the Hertfordshire side of the road from 1869-1903, there are now houses on the site. Further north, on the Bedfordshire side of the road lay the California Swimming Pool (1935-1973) and the California Ballroom (1960-1979). This area is also now housing. The area is within the council area of Central Bedfordshire.
