Buttershaw, Yorkshire

Buttershaw is a former hamlet that is now an urban area in the south-west of Bradford, Yorkshire, in the West Riding. The original hamlet of Buttershaw was around St Paul's Church. The building of Buttershaw Mills to the south-west of this saw the name applied also to the developments around these. The construction of a large council estate in the 1940s to the north of Mills saw the name Buttershaw applied to this area too. The area is within the council area of Bradford.
