Bushmead Priory is the remains of an Ausustinian priory in Bushmead, Bedfordshire. Founded in the late 12th century, the Priory Church of Saint Mary, Bushmead, commonly called Bushmead Priory, was a monastic foundation for Augustinian Canons. After Henry VIII’s Dissolution of the Monasteries the site passed into the ownership of the Gery family, who transformed the former priory buildings into a substantial house. Nothing remains of the priory church, but the refectory survives with a fine timber roof and notable 14th-century wall paintings. The site is in the care of English Heritage. It is within the council area of Bedford.
