Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk

Bury St Edmunds is a market town in Suffolk. In the centre of town lie the remains of an abbey, surrounded by the Abbey Gardens, a park. The abbey was a shrine to Saint Edmund, the King of the East Angles. Bury St Edmunds Cathedral was created when the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich was formed in 1914. The town is known for brewing, malting and sugar-making. The town is within the council area of West Suffolk (Suffolk).
