Burren, Down

Burren is a large village in County Down. It is within the townland of Burren, in the civil parish of Clonallan. St Mary's Church (RC) (originally St Colman's Church) was dedicated in 1833, but has only been surrounded by a nucleated settlement since the mid 20th century. The hamlet of Milltown developed in the south of Burren townland in the mid 19th century. 20th century development has spread along Milltown Street between Milltown and St Mary's Church, effectively creating a larger village of Burren. The village is within the council area of Newry, Mourne and Down.
