Buildwas, Shropshire

Buildwas is a village in Shropshire, on the north bank of the River Severn. The mediæval Church of Holy Trinity was rebuilt in 1720 and further restored in 1864. The ruins of Buildwas Abbey (aka St Mary and St Chad's Abbey), founded 1135, lie on the south bank of the River Severn (in the care of English Heritage). The village is within the council area of Shropshire.
