Bucknell, Shropshire
Bucknell is a village in Shropshire, lying on the River Redlake, close to the borders with Herefordshire and Radnorshire. It was listed in Domesday as 'Buckehale' or 'Buckenhill'. The Norman magnate Roger de Montgomery held the village from the King. The earth mound at The Olde Farm is the remains of a Norman motte castle. The Church of St Mary dates from the 12th century, restored and partly rebuilt in 1870. The village is within the council area of Shropshire.
