Buckden Palace, Huntingdonshire
Buckden Palace (aka Buckden Towers) is a mediæval fortified house and bishop's palace on the High Street, Buckden, Huntingdonshire. The first palace was built of wood in the late 12th century for the bishops of Lincoln. This was later replaced by more substantial buildings. A tall brick tower, the Great Tower, was added in 1475. The Victorian house now present on the site was built in 1872. The Claretian Missionaries were given the site by the Catholic Bishop of Northampton in 1956. It is within the council area of Huntingdonshire (Cambridgeshire).
