Brynbuga, Monmouthshire

Brynbuga (Usk) is a small town in Monmouthshire, noted for its rural setting, tranquil lifestyle and quality of life. The River Usk, from which the town takes its English name, flows through the town and is spanned by an ancient, arched stone bridge at the western entrance to the town. The town's Welsh name Brynbuga ("Buga's Hill"), was first recorded in the 15th century. Usk Castle, above the town, supervises the even more ancient crossing: the fording point where the River Usk can be crossed on foot in the summertime. The town is within the council area of Monmouthshire.
