Bromborough, Cheshire
Bromborough is a town in Cheshire, on the eastern side of the Wirral peninsula. A charter for a market to be held each Monday was granted by Edward I in 1278 to the monks of St Werburgh's Abbey. The steps of the market cross are from the original 13th century monument. Bromborough is one of several places which contends to be the location of the Battle of Brunanburh (937). The town is within the council area of Wirral.
