Brocklesby Hall, Lincolnshire

Brocklesby Hall is a country house in Brocklesby, Lincolnshire, in the Parts of Lindsey. The 27,000 acre Brocklesby Park estate has been in the possession of the Pelham family, the Earls of Yarborough, since the 16th century. A house was originally built on this site by Sir William Pelham in 1603, but significant remodelling occurred throughout its history, especially in the early 18th century. In 1898, following a disastrous fire at the house, Reginald Blomfield undertook a major reconstruction, but most of his external work was removed in a drastic remodelling and reduction of the house by Claude Phillimore in 1957-1958. Thus, its architecture reflects various remodelling periods, with contributions from architects like James Wyatt and Capability Brown, who also designed the grounds. The hall remains the private home of the Earls of Yarborough and is not open to the public. It is within the council area of West Lindsey (Lincolnshire).
