Brislington, Somerset

Brislington is a suburban village in Somerset. It was listed in Domesday as 'Brisilton'. In the 19th century Brislington was described as ‘the prettiest village in Somerset’ and it remained a rural, semi-agricultural community well into the 20th century. The parish was incorporated into the Bristol municipal area in 1933. Though it now forms a south-eastern suburb of Bristol, it retains a distinct identity. St Luke's Church dates from the 15th century. The Palladian-fronted Brislington House (1806) was built as a lunatic asylum. The village is within the council area of Bristol.
