Brighton, Sussex

Brighton is a seaside resort town in Sussex. The ancient settlement of "Brighthelmstone" was documented in the Domesday. Brighton emerged as a health resort featuring sea bathing during the 18th century and became highly fashionable in the Georgian era thanks to the patronage of the Prince Regent, who constructed the Royal Pavilion. The arrival of the railway in 1841 made it a popular destination for day-trippers from London. Along with the neighbouring town of Hove, Brighton forms the city of Brighton and Hove. It is within the council area of Brighton and Hove.
