Brierley Hill, Staffordshire
Brierley Hill is a small town in Staffordshire, within the Black Country. The first written records of the town date from the 17th century. Brierley Hill had become heavily industrialized by the beginning of the 19th century, with a number of quarries, collieries, glass works, and iron works emerging. For local government purposes, from 1894-1966, the town was the basis of Brierley Hill urban district. The Merry Hill Shopping Centre is one of the largest shopping centres in the UK. The town is within the council area of Dudley.
