Brandywell, Londonderry
Brandywell is an urban area in the west of Londonderry, County Londonderry. It is within the townland of Ballymagowan, in the civil parish of Templemore. The area is named from a well which stood close to Brandywell Cottage on what is now Brandywell Road. Though the cottage is extant, the well has been built upon. The area was developed from the ealy 20th century and since 1928 has been known as the location of Brandywell Stadium, the home of Derry City Football Club. The area is within the council area of Derry City and Strabane.
