Brampton, Derbyshire

Brampton is a former village (New Brampton) that is now an urban area in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The area developed as a village in the Industrial Revolution, to the west of Chesterfield in the parish of Brampton. The settlement became known as New Brampton to distinguish it from the much older village of Brampton (which became Old Brampton). After becoming part of Chesterfield, the 'New' has slowly fallen out of use. It is within the council area of Chesterfield (Derbyshire).
