Bowringsleigh is an Elizabethan country house and estate near West Alvington, Devon. A house on the estate dates back to at least 1303, though the present house was built for the Bowring family in Tudor times. The present baronial appearance, with a castellated four-storey tower to the right of the Tudor frontage, is due to Richard Coad’s restoration of 1868-73 for William Roope Illbert. The house is within the council area of South Hams (Devon).
