Bowlish, Somerset
Bowlish is a picturesque historic hamlet lying on the River Sheppey, on the western outskirts of Shepton Mallet, Somerset. The hamlet was a favoured location for the grand home of the mill owners of Shepton Mallet and the surrounding area. Old Bowlish House was built around 1618 for George Strode, part of a family that dominated Shepton’s wool trade for centuries. Its famous symmetrical Georgian "front" was added around 1720–1735. The area is within the council area of Somerset.
