Bow Common, Middlesex
Bow Common is a metropolitan district forming part of the East End of London, in south-east Middlesex. The common itself lay on either side of Bow Common Road, to the south of Mile End. The common was destroyed in the mid 19th century with the name being applied to the industrial and residential developments which replaced it. St Paul’s church (1960) won the National Churches Trust Diamond Jubilee Award (in 2013) for best Modern Church built in the UK since 1953. The area is within the council area of Tower Hamlets.
