Bow Bridge, Lancashire

Bow Bridge is a late-15th-century stone-built bridge in the Furness area of Lancashire. It is made of local red sandstone stone, 10 feet in width, and crosses Mill Beck near Furness Abbey at Barrow. It was built for the Abbot of Furness Abbey to give access to one of the abbey's watermills. After the Dissolution the mills fell into disuse and the bridge saw little traffic. As such it was never altered greatly and consequently survives well, displaying many of its original features. It has been a Scheduled monument since 1949. It is within the council area of Westmorland and Furness.
Historic England Scheduled Monument 1011245.
