Bootle is a town in Lancashire. It lies at the mouth of the River Mersey, to the north-west of Liverpool with which it is contiguous. Bootle's economy has long been centred on the docks and their associated industries. The old civic centre of Bootle contains large Victorian buildings such as the town hall and the library. It is within the council area of Sefton.
