Bloxwich, Staffordshire

Bloxwich is a market town in Staffordshire. It is listed in Domesday as 'Blockeswich'. Bloxwich grew in the 18th century around coal mining, iron smelting and metal-working industries but remained a large village well into the 19th century. In the 20th century, Bloxwich saw housing development on a large scale. This has continued into the 21st century. Despite this, the town centre contains mainly Victorian and Edwardian buildings, along with parks, gardens and the village green. The town is within the council area of Walsall.
