MenuBishop's Palace, Suffolk
Bishop's Palace is the moated site of a mediæval bishop's palace at South Elmham Hall, Suffolk. Prior to the Dissolution, it was the location of a manor house of the Bishops of Norwich. The moat, which varies between about 33ft and 50ft in width, surrounds a sub-rectangular island with maximum dimensions of about 475ft by 330ft. South Elmham Hall stands in the southern half of the island and incorporates part of a mediæval hall. Other mediæval walls are incorporated into farm buildings. It is within the council area of East Suffolk (Suffolk).
