Billingham, Durham

Billingham is a town in County Durham. In the 19th century Billingham was a small village - the original village area being known as Billingham Green. From the First World War, Billingham developed as a centre of chemical works. The building of many planned estates since the Second World War has seen Billingham spread north and east. It is within the council area of Stockton-on-Tees.
