Billericay, Essex

Billericay is a town in Essex. The earliest reference is to "Byllyrica" in 1291. The Battle of Billericay (1381) was a decisive victory for Richard II's forces during the Peasants' Revolt. The Old Town Hall (1830) is in the neoclassical style. Burghstead Lodge, now a library, dates from the Georgian period. The town is within the council area of Basildon (Essex).
