Bexleyheath (or Bexley Heath) is a town in Kent. Bexley heath was formerly heathland to the north of Bexley. The land was enclosed from the 18th century and the settlement of Bexleyheath developed along Watling Street, the Roman road from London to Dover. It grew further to become a suburban town by the mid 20th century. Red House (1860) is a significant Arts and Crafts building, designed by William Morris and the architect Philip Webb as a family home for Morris. The clock tower (1912) on Broadway commemorates the coronation of King George V. The town is within the council area of Bexley.
