Bentley Hall, Derbyshire

Bentley Hall is a country house near Alkmonton, Derbyshire. The earliest section of the house is believed to date from 1612, and is built of red brick with stone dressings and features both 17th and 18th century architectural elements. The Browne family sold the estate in 1749 to the Wilmots of Chaddesden, after which it became a tenanted farm. It changed hands several times in the 19th century before being purchased by a private owner in 1987. In September 2006, the house was heavily damaged by a fire. A subsequent restoration project was completed in 2008. The renovations carefully preserved period features, such as fine plasterwork and an early staircase. It is within the council area of Derbyshire Dales (Derbyshire).
